This Chick Read: Currans POV (free download) by Gordon Andrews

If you are a huge fan of Ilona Andrews, then you have become addicted, as I have, to the Kate Daniels series.  Kate is a kick ass warrior woman who fights crime, solves mysteries and stands up for the underdog, using her fists, feet, sword and maybe a little boost of magic juice.  The first book, Magic Bites was published in 2007, and since then, we have watched Kate grow Continue reading “This Chick Read: Currans POV (free download) by Gordon Andrews”

This Chick Read: The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler

I had read a mini review of The Summer of Chasing Mermaids where the blogger YA Bookers started the paragraph with I love love love this book!  (I think I got the correct number of love’s!)  After reading the brief review, I went to my Overdrive list and put myself in line to check out a copy.  Having read the book, I have to agree with YA Bookers, I loved loved loved this book!

This Chick Read: Mercury Striking by Rebecca Zanetti

I am a huge fan of Rebecca Zanetti’s Dark Protectors series and, in fact, just finished it during the holidays.  When I saw she had a new series being released, I requested a copy on NetGalley and Kensington Books shared a pre-release copy.  Mercury Striking is the first novel in the Scorpius Syndrome series. This Chick Read: Firelight by Kristen Callihan

As you all know from my previous blog This Chick Read: Kristen Callihan’s The Game On series, I really enjoyed Kristen Callihan‘s style of writing.  She has a great gift for character development and yep, ok, I’ll admit, she writes great love scenes!   Continue reading “This Chick Read: Firelight by Kristen Callihan”

This Chick Read- Sweep in Peace by Ilona Andrews

Sweep in Peace is the second book in the Innkeeper series by Ilona Andrews and the synopsis below is from the website Ilona-Andrews.com.

Dina DeMille doesn’t run your typical Bed and Breakfast. Her inn is a living entity that defies laws of physics, her fluffy dog is secretly a monster, and the only paying guest is a former Galactic tyrant with a price on her head. But the inn needs guests to thrive, and guests have been scarce, so when an Arbitrator shows up at Dina’s door and asks her to host a peace summit between three warring species, she jumps on the chance. The Hot Chicks Who Read dish on Sara Gruen’s At the Waters Edge

I am in a book club called the Hot Chicks Who Read.  I laugh as I write that because, if you asked any one of us if we were hot chicks, we’d say, No! It’s just a fun title, and it is.  Privately, however, I think each of us would agree, yeah, we’re hot, but we’ll laugh as we say it.  The group of 30-60 year olds meet every six weeks or so, and dish on a book we’ve picked for that months meeting.  Our choice of books have had hits and misses, but the one thing all of the choices have had in common is that the group of us have probably enjoyed talking about the books more than we have had actually reading them. This Chick Read: Gail Carriger-Manners and Mutiny

How amazing would it be if you were a teenage girl sent to finishing school as punishment, but were in fact being sent to an Espionage school, in a dirigible!  This is the case for Sophronia, and the other young ladies sent to Madame Geraldine’s in the Finishing school series.  A prequel to the Parasol Protectorate series, this is the last of four books. This Chick Read: Shannon Stacey’s Undeniably Yours

I have mixed feelings about today.  It’s Thanksgiving, and my husband and I were supposed to be on the road to be with my family in the mountains in North Carolina.  However, we found out this weekend that there was a mixup with the property management company and they rented our house to someone else.  So, our plans have changed.   Continue reading “This Chick Read: Shannon Stacey’s Undeniably Yours”
