This Chick Read: Shadow Rider by Christine Feehan

Shadow Riders can use shadows to travel from one place to another by catching a ride through a shadow’s tubes.  The Ferrero family has made a business of shadow riding. They provide a service, caring for the people in their neighborhood, and being paid to “take care of” those who are harming others, the dregs of society.  Female riders are rare, and when Francesca walks into Stefano’s neighborhood he immediately knows what she is, and claims her for his own.   Continue reading “This Chick Read: Shadow Rider by Christine Feehan”

This Chick Read: Before the Fall by Noah Hawley

This story starts with a plane crash and admittedly, as my father is a retired pilot, plane crashes are not my favorite subject to read about.  However, as the plot unfolded, the plane crash, although it was the impetus driving the plot, was not what this story was about.  This novel was about human nature.  Noah Hawley revealed each character’s strengths and flaws, Continue reading “This Chick Read: Before the Fall by Noah Hawley”

This Chick Read: Vengeful Love: Black Diamonds by Laura Carter

I would like to preface this review with a personal note.  I met Laura Carter, the author of this series, at the RT Convention in Las Vegas last month.  She and I shared a bench while quickly wolfing down vegetable wraps, (that cost a mint!).  I saw that she was wearing a black badge that stated she was an author, and struck up a conversation.  I have to say, the people, authors and readers, at this convention were very warm and approachable.  The ladies I met, talked to, and made friends with, were from all walks of life.  Having that one thing in common, books, really broke down the walls that we usually hide ourselves behind.  Books are a wonderful ice breaker!  Laura, as I stated above, was no exception to the rule.  She was lovely, friendly, Continue reading “This Chick Read: Vengeful Love: Black Diamonds by Laura Carter”
