When I first started blogging it was because I loved to pass on a great book to my friends. Are you one of those people who can have a conversation with anyone about anything? I am. It’s a part of my job to entertain, make people like me, and hopefully buy what I’m selling. Get your minds out of the gutter! I sell advertising! Which does require me to talk, but I’ve really noticed that when I ask or get asked about the last book I’ve read, my whole persona changes. I sit up straighter, smile and start glowing about a good book. So when I started this blog, I thought I’d be conversing with people who read and enjoy books like I do. And I am! I even occasionally come across someone who is as infatuated with a book as I am, which is fun, but it doesn’t happen as often as I thought it would.
So I’m going to try something a bit different for this weeks Sunday Commentary. I’d like you all to choose my next book.. If you have read any of the following books and think it was awesome, so-so, or awful, give it a shout out! I will read what the majority chooses, review it, link it back to you all, and lets chat! These are books I have on my TBR, kindle, or have gotten as gifts and are ready to read! I’ve chosen six, because, well, I had gotten to five when I skimmed down my Kindle to the Z’s and saw a Mariana Zapata book that has been sitting unread for over a year. So I added it! You’ve got six titles to choose from, and I tried to mix up the genres a bit.

I read the third book in this series first and it was great! Makes me want to start from the beginning of the series.

I read and reviewed Now That It’s You and liked this authors writing style, so I picked this one up on sale… awhile ago. Lol.

I have had this book for a few months. It was part of my Uppercase Box subscription and I still haven’t gotten to it…

I received this book for free at the RT Convention LAST year. I’m heading to this year’s convention on 4/30…

this was on sale on Amazon for .99 and I saw so many great reviews…

I do love sports romances, and had heard great things about this author. Then I read the Wall of Winnipeg and Me, which was exceptional! I just need to get to it!

Sarie Holland is at a college party nursing one beer all night long. She can usually avoid temptation, doesn’t do drugs, and is a very responsible girl. However, on this night she lets herself take one hit off a bong. That one hit sets her down a path that changes her life forever. Cassandra sangue, Meg Corbyn, is still working as the Human Liaison to the terre indigene in the Lakeside Courtyard. Simon, her boss, wolf, and new friend, has come to realize how delicate Meg is in comparison with the Others living in the compound and he guards that fragility ferociously. Meg’s prophecies are happening pretty regularly, not always requiring a cut, but sometimes that prickly feeling is so fierce that she is compelled to slice herself, disregarding her own safety. Her visions are full of violent images and the terre indigene of the Lakeside Courtyard have learned not to ignore what she says, as she has saved their lives before. It becomes apparent that a war between the terre indigene and humans is near when a drug poisons their food making them helpless in the hands of their human murderers.
This novel lacks the humor of the first novel, although watching Meg and Simon tiptoe around each other is pretty funny, both completely clueless about their feelings, and how to act. The first book was about Meg and her safety, but this novel took an even darker turn on a larger scale. We are given an inside look at the unsavory business that holds the cassandra sangue hostage, and because we have come to care so much for Meg and love her innocence, we can’t help but be horrified at what she might have gone through while living in captivity. As this story unfolds, even though the terre indigene can be truly frightening, it’s the humans and their lack of humanity that have become the monsters.
Anne Bishop deftly intertwines storylines told from several perspectives and when those stories merge, the impact is jolting leaving the reader hanging off the edge of their seat eagerly grabbing for the next book in the series. A paranormal thriller at its best. ❤❤❤❤❣

From the first scene, as Meg Corbyn is running in the snow towards the lights of the Lakeside Courtyard, I was gripped with tension, my eyes moving rapidly over the words that would take me to the next step in this plot. In one of my favorite scenes in this book, Lilly Linton, dressed as a man because women do not yet have the right to vote, stops outside a polling place to give advice to a stranger about a house he was thinking of buying in her neighborhood. The man, businessman Rikkard Ambrose, is so impressed with this young man’s willingness to help and give good advice, offers him a job. No, really, he forces the job offer on Lilly. Charlotte Holmes and Jamie Watson are the great great great grandchildren of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. They have never met before, but as with all of the Watson and Holmes family members, they are knowledgeable and curious about each other.
