It’s Monday, what are you reading? (1/25/21)

I haven’t felt well for a couple of days (bad back) so I’ve been listening to an old favorite while trying to sleep and distract myself from my aches and pains. Isn’t it interesting how you can divert your brains attention in another direction? I’m sure there are a ton of medical papers on that but I’ve found that an audiobook will help me fall asleep when my brain won’t shut down, and in this case distract me from the pain I’m feeling. Enough about that, let’s talk about the books that I’ve been reading.

This post originated over on Book Date, so thanks for the idea and letting me continue on the discussion about what books I am reading.

Mercy Thompson is one of my favorite female fantasy characters. She’s tough, but doesn’t mind having a soft side. She’s loyal to a fault, but she’s also a lot of fun. If you’re looking for an action packed fantasy series to listen to I do recommend this one.

The third book in the Central Park Pact and one I look forward to getting into. I have enjoyed the first two novels and really have gotten to like this author’s style. This is the only series of her’s I’ve read and I’m looking forward to digging into some others.

Happy Monday everyone! What book are you reading to help jump start your week?

    1. I also listen to audiobooks when I feel well. If you have a great narrator, you will notice different things when they read it because their voice is different than your own when you read. Sometimes they’ll add humor where I read it straight. It’s interesting! I can certainly understand if I had trouble focusing, an audiobook may not be the right tool for me to read a book. It does take a LOT longer to get through a book than actually picking one up and reading it. I hope it doesn’t keep you from reading though, that would be something I’d miss! Thanks for commenting. 🙂

      1. I will! Thanks for pointing it out to me. I’ve gotten really bad at returning the favor. When I was laying in bed this morning I actually made the plan to read through some other bloggers feeds. Yours is at the top of my list!

  1. Those look fun! I totally hear you on going back and listening to a comforting book on tough days. I went through something rough in December and ended up listening to Tim Curry reading A Christmas Carol like four times. Haha. It was just really soothing knowing that things were going to come right in the end, and of course, he’s a super entertaining narrator. 🙂

    1. There are just some voices that you love listening too aren’t there? I can understand why you’d like his voice and that story is timeless. I hope your January was better than your December? Take care and thanks for commenting!
