It’s Monday, what are you reading? (4/19/21)

My husband is on a trip back east and I’m holding down the fort at home, so things were a little busier this weekend than they have been the past few weeks. I did still find time to read an ARC and review it before it’s release this week, and have a book on my horizon but haven’t yet started it. Let’s catch up!

JUST FINISHED

I really enjoyed this tale set in two times, current and 1943 occupied Paris. It’s definitely historical and rides the line between a romance and a mystery. Tell me what genre you think it falls in if you’ve read it!

JUST STARTED

This is the next ARC I need to read but I’m not sure I’m going to start it right away. If you have a great book I should jump into before I start this one, please let me know!

What books are you reading? Was your last book worth picking up? Let me know in the comments!

Happy Monday everyone.

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (4/12/21)

A stormy Saturday gave me a great reason to sit on my couch and finish listening to an awesome audio book that I will tell you a little bit more about below. I also worked on my side gig (selling Color Street nails) and wrote some blog review posts. All in all it was a nice mix of a weekend and I feel good going into my Monday. So, what book did I pick up to begin my week with? Let’s get to it!

JUST FINISHED

Dark Queen is book #12 in the Jane Yellowrock series. How does this author keep me coming back to a series that has that many books? Her characters keep evolving so I’m learning something new in each novel. The story always has three or four parts that are intertwining, holding my interest and keeping me on my toes. Every time I finish a chapter I immediately start the next one. The action sequences in this series are a-ma-zing. Seriously. Urban Fantasy is my favorite genre and if it has great action scenes and a wonderful female heroine who I like? I’m all in. So, it’s on to book #13 for me!

JUST STARTED

I loved Ayesha at Last and couldn’t wait to start the newest novel by this author. I literally just picked it up but it’s off to a great start!

What books are you reading this week? Did you switch up the genre’s or stick to something you love? I’d love to know, please comment below!

Have a great week and happy reading!

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (3/29/21)

How was everyone’s weekend? In Nashville we had quite a bit of rain on Saturday and some areas saw a lot of flooding. Our neighborhood was fine but seeing the flooding brought back some bad memories for a lot of people who lived through the floods in 2010. All of that rain on Saturday meant I was curled up in my recliner reading a book. I hope you all had great weekends and got to spend time reading as well!

JUST FINISHED

I have read the other books in this YA series, all of them scoring four ratings. There was something about the depth to the story in Love & Olives that really struck a chord. I think this is the best one yet and adored Olive, Theo, and Nico.

JUST STARTED

OK, I haven’t started this one yet, but I have been looking at pictures from my trip to Italy four years ago and despite not being able to take the journey in person, I might take it in my imagination by reading this book. It looks pretty good!

What book are you reading to help you get your week started?

Take Care!

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (3/22/21)

The weather was beautiful this weekend, I got my first vaccination shot, and I read a couple of good books! All is right in the world, LOL. I hope you had a wonderful weekend too. Mondays are always tough to get through but sometimes knowing you have a good book waiting to read at the end of the day helps. I’d love to know what you’re reading!

Sometimes your in the mood to read a regency novel and this one hit the spot. An frenemies to loves story, I thought this novel had an interesting twist. I also liked that I’d read the first novel in the series and knew the back story of the other characters, I think otherwise I would’ve found them annoying. The two main protagonists were fun though!

JUST STARTED

I haven’t started a book yet. However, I do have these two books checked out from the library so I’m leaning towards picking up one of these. Has anyone read one of them? Love & Olives is a YA novel and I’ve read the other books in this series. I haven’t read any Alex Brown novels but this premise looks pretty good.

Thanks for the help! Now, let’s hear what books are on your nightstand!

Happy Monday and happy reading!

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (3/15/21)

Do you ever look forward to spending a long weekend reading? Me too! I took off a couple of days and will admit, despite the wonderful weather outside I hunkered down with a couple of good books. It was wonderful! I’m just going to get right to telling you what I read.

I know last week I was waffling about whether to read this book, but once I picked it up I was sucked into Nesta and Cassian’s story. It was soooo good! Maas did such a great job of making Nesta an easy character to dislike that I just couldn’t see how she was going to turn that around. It was done in the most wonderful way! Cassian, was awesome as expected. If you’re a fan of this series and haven’t read this one, pick it up. It is so good!

JUST STARTED

I literally just finished the above book, but this is the one I think I’ll pick up next.

This novel is being released on Tuesday. A young adult story about a girl who has been disappointed by love and is determined to stay single. Of course, as with most novels, her life isn’t going the way she expects. I’m looking forward to this light read after the heavier Maas novel I just finished.

What are you starting your week off with? Let me know in the comments!

Happy Monday and happy reading!

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (3/8/21)

This weekend I got caught up on a late ARC and am looking forward to a week where I can read a book I want to read instead of a book I have to read. I have two choices in front of me for my next book. Let me know which you think I should read?

This sixth in the series, I’ve enjoyed watching these characters grow close. The mystery in this one didn’t catch my interest as much as usual but it was still a solid story.

JUST STARTED

I haven’t yet started either of these but I think I’m going to choose one. Which one do you think I should choose?

Fantasy or a romance? Well, the fantasy has a bit of romance too… Let me know what you think!

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (3/1/21)

It’s one year into working from home. As time has passed it’s surprising how slow and quick it feels. My habits have definitely changed over the past year. I’m reading less and watching tv and streaming more. I’ve had some back issues over the last few months and that pain has also increased my tv viewing because getting lost in a tv program helps. I am taking care of my ARC commitments and re-reading a lot of old favorites. This also helps the time fly, so here we are already in March again. This week is all about the ARC reading as I’m a book behind and I just finished a good one!

Easy to fall into and in love with, Love at First is a second chance romance between two characters who had a chance meeting 16 years ago that one of them never forgets. It’s been hard to fall into a story lately and I had zero problems with this novel. In fact it had the warmth of a favorite book or movie but the story was new and special.

JUST STARTED

I haven’t started this novel yet but love the series and am looking forward to where this author is taking these characters next. Especially since I thought the previous book was the last in the series! Surprise!

What kind of reading mood are you in this week? Let me know your selection in the comments below!

Happy Monday.

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (2/22/21)

With the storms passing through last week, all I wanted to do this weekend was curl up with a good book! Did I reach for a new book? Nope! I went for the first book in a series that I hadn’t read in awhile. The 6th is coming out this week and after reading it I got curious again about the earlier days of this series. I do that a lot. LOL. Here’s what I was reading.

JUST FINISHED

This is the first book in the Alpha and Omega series. It’s an urban fantasy mystery series that is absolutely fantastic. Set in the same world as Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series I had forgotten how much I loved the two main characters Charles and Anna.

JUST STARTED

This one is another re-read although I haven’t read it since it initially came out a year or so ago. It wasn’t my favorite book by this author and I wanted to see if my feelings had changed. I am somewhat struggling to get myself through this one so again I’d have to say that the characters are a little challenging to love. I do love this author a LOT though, she’s one of my favorites.

These are the books that got me through my weekend into my Monday. What are you reading today?

Happy Monday!

Deb

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (2/15/21)

I’ve found my mood has changed slightly over the past week, probably because of the impeachment trial taking over our airwaves, and my reading choices changed to more intricately told stories than the romances I’d been reading. It’s interesting how my reading mood changes with what has gone on around me. It really does influence my choices. Do you feel the same way?

JUST FINISHED

I am rarely disappointed in one of JD Robb’s In Death futuristic murder mysteries. This is book #50 in the series, which I’m sure was a landmark number. I can’t think of another series that has this many novels in it. It was a solid story that held my interest, wasn’t too gruesome in gory details, and did well on leaving me satisfied and feeling vindicated at the ending. All in all a solid story for a fiftieth novel! The 52nd just came out so I’m a little behind. She writes incredibly quickly!

JUST STARTED

Written by Nalini Singh who is known for her paranormal romances, Quiet in her Bones is a departure. Set in New Zealand, it’s an atmospheric murder mystery. I just started this novel but I can already feel the sinister nature of the story and can’t wait to really dig in.

What mood have you been in this week? Are you pining for a good romance? Or like me, are you needing the gritty mystery to solve and feel redeemed? Please let me know what you’re reading in the comments. I always find new books based upon you all’s input!

Happy Monday!

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (2/8/21)

Here is the US it’s the day after the Super Bowl and if you’re a football fan, like I am you stayed up late watching the game. Despite your feelings about the teams playing, it’s hard not to get caught up in the food and entertainment. Of course, this year it was just our family pod watching around our TV with no outside guests but we still fixed up some fun appetizer’s and watched the beginning of the game together. Despite this football excitement I did manage to finish a book last night. Yep, I watched football and read at the same time. It’s a hard habit to break. Here is what I finished and what I’ll be reading starting today.

JUST FINISHED

The first in the Wild West MC series and it won’t be the last in the series I’ll read. I was pleasantly surprised again that this novel was again, just like the Dream Maker series, a return to this author’s older style of writing. More story than detailed romantic scenes. Thank goodness!

JUST STARTED

Well, I haven’t started a book and don’t know which one I’m going to turn to. This is kind of unusual for me as I usually have them stacked up! I do have a couple of ARC’s due in a couple of weeks so I will probably get started on the following novel. Don’t hold me to it because another cover may catch my eye and divert me!

What great book is sitting on your nightstand waiting for you to return and pick it up this evening? Please let me know in the comments. You never know, your pick could be the one that diverts me away from Quiet in her Bones!

Happy Monday and happy reading!
