This Chick is joining the Take Control of your TBR Challenge! (Week 1) #TakeControlTBR

I saw this blog post on the Caffeinated Book Reviewers blog and had to join up!!  In the month of March the challenge is to reduce your TBR pile. Read any book published before March 01 2017 and then log them into her website. I am joining at current count, almost 50 other random bloggers and friends of Kimberly’s. Fun!

There are a few rules I must follow:

  • I can’t include any novellas, all books must be over  100 pages.
  • Begins midnight March 01 2017 and ends March 31, 2017 ( I’m late getting started I know! Luckily I’m a fast reader!)
  • Post a review to Goodreads or on my blog and then link to rafflecopter to win prizes.  Yes, prizes!!  Watch out folks, I am pretty competitive! Lol. 😏
  • Use #TakeControlTBR
  • Post updates and results on my blog
  • Read, read, read!

Considering I have 183 books on my kindle, belong to the Uppercase monthly Book Club and am about 6 months behind on reading those books AND I have a stack of other books I’ve bought, I think I have a good stash to choose from. ☺️

A sample snapshot of my kindle loaded with unread books!

Goals: I’m going to keep it simple. My goal is to read 12 books this month off of my TBR list. I do have a couple of ARC commitments I have to get to that won’t count against this tally since the books don’t come out this month, but I think I can get to twelve.

First up is This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab.

Wish me luck and if you have the reading stamina, join up!  I love a good competition! Come on, let’s read! What’s your first book?

This Chick Read: Managed (VIP #2) by Kristen Callihan

Gabriel Scott became friends with an unruly group of boys in boarding school. When they started a band, he became their manager and helped them become one of the biggest rock bands of their time. When one of the band members tries to commit suicide Gabriel feels responsible. He should’ve seen how Jax was hurting and should’ve been able to prevent it. Instead of acting out, as Killian did in ‘Idol’, Gabriel has shut off all emotions. Continue reading “This Chick Read: Managed (VIP #2) by Kristen Callihan”

Blog Tour! #Excerpt #Giveaway #Trailer : Passion Restored by Carrie Ann Ryan

About PASSION RESTOREDPassion Restored ECover v300dpi

The Gallagher Brothers series from NYT Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan continues with the one brother who thinks he can handle it all and the one woman who could change that.

Owen Gallagher likes everything in its place and is organized to a fault. While his brothers have each dealt with their own personal tragedies and stresses, Owen figures he’s had it pretty easy. That is until his perfectly ordered world is rocked at its foundation and he’s forced to rely on others. Now, he must heal his body and his soul while trying to ignore his delectable and utterly off-limits neighbor.

Liz McKinley is stressed out, exhausted, and not in the mood for a bearded and growly man in her ER. When she patches him up to the best of his ability, she’s prepared to push him firmly from her thoughts. Of course, that would be easier if she and her best friend hadn’t bought the house next to his. Now their paths seem to cross daily, and she is finding it harder and harder to say no to the injured and angry man next door. But she’s been scarred one too many times in her life, and even though this Gallagher looks good enough to eat, she knows that sometimes, sating that craving is the worst thing she can do.

Atten: slight spoilers ahead!

Feversong, the final installment in the Fever series, wraps up Mackayla and Barrons storyline. At the end of Feverborn, Mackayla has to use the Sinsar Dubh to save Jada/Dani’s life, and becomes possessed. Finally!  We knew we were heading to this conclusion and that Mac would have to be possessed in order to conquer this evil. She did it in spectacular cannibalistic fashion. Yuck! However, after becoming evil incarnate, the rest of the Scooby gang led by the incomparable Barrons, is determined to help her overcome the odds and get free. This Chick Read: Future Threat (Future Shock #2) by Elizabeth Briggs

Future Threat takes up six months after Future Shock ends. Elena and Adam are together, at least as much as Elena can be with her survivors guilt and PTSD from the results of their last trip into the future. They are trying to get on with their lives after Aether Corp. messed with their future. One day Aether comes calling and asks Elena, Adam and Chris back to run some tests. They end up being drugged and forced to go back into the future to rescue another team that had not come back from their most recent mission. This Chick Read: Written in Red (The Others #1) by Anne Bishop

From the first scene, as Meg Corbyn is running in the snow towards the lights of the Lakeside Courtyard, I was gripped with tension, my eyes moving rapidly over the words that would take me to the next step in this plot. When Meg meets shapeshifter Simon to apply for the Human Liaison job, this authors words filled me with hope that he would give it to her, to help keep her from the people chasing her. That was before I even knew what they all were! Anne Bishop set the stage for an amazing new world of shifters, vampires, elementals, etc. and  most importantly what Meg is, a Cassandra Continue reading “This Chick Read: Written in Red (The Others #1) by Anne Bishop”

This Chick Read: Storm and Silence (Storm and Silence #1) by Robert Thier

In one of my favorite scenes in this book, Lilly Linton, dressed as a man because women do not yet have the right to vote, stops outside a polling place to give advice to a stranger about a house he was thinking of buying in her neighborhood. The man, businessman Rikkard Ambrose, is so impressed with this young man’s willingness to help and give good advice, offers him a job. No, really, he forces the job offer on Lilly.  She takes his card and kind of shrugs it off, after all, she is off to vote!
