It’s Monday, what are you reading? (7/17/23)

JUST FINISHED

My first novel by Sara Desai and I had so much fun with it! It was silly, irreverent, charming, and emotional. Everything you could ask for a weekend read. This book comes out tomorrow!

JUST STARTED

Book #3 in the Grey Gates series by Vanessa Nelson. I am loving this fantasy series. Party investigative, part magic – it’s everything I’d hoped for!

What books are you reading today?

Have a great Monday and happy reading!

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (7/10/23)

Summertime, when the reading is easy… I love summer and hot weekends and staying inside with a good book. This weekend I enjoyed a graphic audiobook and realized, yes, their tagline “a movie in your mind” is totally appropriate! I also started a new book that got off to a wild start and I can’t wait to keep reading. Life is good!

JUST FINISHED

If you haven’t tried a graphic audiobook then you are missing out! Magic Bites is the first novel in one of my favorite series and I’ve got to admit, it’s probably my least favorite in the series as well. However, listening to it backed by music, sound effects for the fight scenes, and a different actor for every character is truly an experience and made me like this book more than ever!

This one is off to a quick start and I’m curious to see where it leads. I’ve heard many great things about this author but this is my first time reading her. So far, so good!

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (5/15/23)

I got truly hooked into the audiobook for Abby Jimenez’s new novel Yours Truly and unfortunately ignored my husband for about a day and a half. LOL. I laughed out loud quite a few times, but this novel also really made me think about living a life without a lot of the anxiety’s that some people have and how fortunate I am to be able to do that. My Sunday was spent with family. Happy Mother’s Day to all of you who are celebrating this past weekend. I hope your day was filled with love and family.

JUST FINISHED

I listened to the audiobook of this novel narrated by Kyla Garcia and Zachary Webber. I love how this novel used the narrators to tell each character’s point of view. This was both a funny and poignant novel. Did I say I liked these characters? Briana and Jacob were messy, fastidious, funny, and emotional wrecks. I, too was all of these things listening to this book. So good!

JUST STARTED

I feel like I literally just finished this author’s last novel The Dead Romantics. I got an advanced reader copy of The Seven Year Slip which comes out in June and I can’t wait to read it!! I’m trying to decide if I want to wait until I go on vacation in a couple of weeks to read it. I’m not sure I can wait though!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday and happy reading!

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (5/8/23)

When I need my brain to relax and destress I tend to go back and read books that I’ve enjoyed in the past. I know what I’m going to get and there’s a sense of relief knowing that I won’t have to struggle to get into a book or finish something I just feel so-so about. I did that with an audio book by a favorite author this last weekend. I just needed to unwind and not worry about liking or not liking what I was reading.

JUST FINISHED

The audiobook came out a few months ago in the most recent installment of the Innkeeper series by Ilona Andrews. I hadn’t yet listened to it, but enjoyed reading the novel when it came out. The story revolved around an interplanetary dating game and was just as engaging to listen to as it was to read. I totally recommend this one!

JUST STARTED

I enjoyed this author’s break out novel ‘Ayesha At Last’ and am looking forward to another classic story rewrite.

Have a great Monday and happy reading!

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (3/27/23)

When a favorite author releases a new book I typically have it on pre-order and eagerly starting digging in. I did both of these things with Kristen Ashley’s new book. Check and check! Are you ever disappointed after all of that anticipation? Me too! I’ll let you know how I feel in the review and a hint of it below.

JUST FINISHED

Book #2 in the Misted Pines series. This series is a departure for this author in that these books are really romantic suspense. I loved the first novel (5 stars!), but had trouble getting into this one. Was it because it was written from the male perspective? I need to mull this one over before I write this review, for sure!

JUST STARTED

I feel the need to genre swap and a fun historical is just what I’m in the mood to read! I haven’t yet started this book so I don’t yet have an opinion but I’m really looking forward to reading it! Check back for a review soon!

Have a great Monday and happy reading!

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (3/6/23)

Last week was pretty busy but just like every week I managed to fit in plenty of time to read. I have a ton of book commitments and am trying to read ahead so I can sprinkle in some mood reading. You know, when you pick a book based on your mood. Mine changes pretty often which is why I find myself genre jumping so much. Here’s what I’ve been reading…

Throwback was a very fun, kind of magical, young adult novel about a girl who has a difficult relationship with her mother. She takes a magical taxi ride that dumps her back in high school with her own teenage mom. I really liked this story and how that relationship was center stage.

JUST STARTED

Lucy Score’s newest novel is out and I wanted to see what all the buzz was about. It’s the second novel in the Knockemout series, a small town romance that centers around its sheriff. So far it’s very sweet! Just like the cover.

What books have caught your attention lately?

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (12/12/22)

It’s Monday! December’s are always busy but I try to find moments of quiet where I can calm my brain and read a few pages. It was difficult to find that time over the last week, but I did finish one book.

JUST FINISHED

I’m not sure why it took me so long to read this series because I loved The Friend Zone, but I did finally pick up this last book. It was funny, sweet, sad, and satisfying. Loved it.

JUST STARTED

I haven’t actually started this book yet, but it is up next on my list. I’ve enjoyed this author in the past and usually her books are easy to read which would be perfect for my busy schedule and busy brain right now. I’m looking forward to it!

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (11/28/22)

I love long weekends with no agenda. Just relaxing, maybe doing a little Christmas shopping, and definitely reading some of the books. I’ve been mixing genres again switching back and forth from a fantasy series I’m slowly getting through and some romance novels that have piqued my interest. In between, I’m watching a ton of World Cup soccer (go USA!) and eating a ton of leftovers. I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend and are enjoying or maybe have enjoyed the bounty that’s been in your refrigerator for days. Here’s what my brain has been noshing on…

This one has been on my TBR for a couple of years and I finally pulled the trigger and read the first page. I was immediately grabbed by the story and spent a wonderful few hours enmeshed in the characters and story. This was a good one!

This book has been in my library wishlist and when I read the synopsis again I immediately remembered why I put it on there. A Reese’s book club pick, with rave reviews, I started it last night and can tell you that I am loving it so far. It is SO well written!

Did you spend your long weekend with a good book or out shopping? I

Happy Monday and happy reading!

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (11/21/22)

I have had such a good run on reading some great books lately! I’m living in the romance genre and wow, have these books been good. Check it out below.

JUST FINISHED

I just finished Flirting with the Beast and if you’re a mature person, you will love these characters! Andi and Wolf are in their late 50’s and finding love like it’s the first time. I loved this story. It had it all, humor, emotion, great characters, and sizzling chemistry. I am 99% sure I’ll be listening to the audiobook for a re-read.

JUST STARTED

I haven’t actually started this one yet but felt like I needed to read another romance with an older couple. This is Kristen Ashley’s most recent novel and I’ve got it waiting for me on my Kindle. I’ve really enjoyed this series and am looking forward to diving in!

We are heading into a long weekend and I always have 3-4 books chosen for the top of my tbr. What books will you be reading?

Happy Monday and happy reading!

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (11/14/22)

Whelp, winter has hit Nashville. What does that mean for me? Cozying up on the couch with a good book and some hot chocolate! This is my favorite time to pick up a good book because I feel like I don’t need to be outside quite as much. No guilt! What genre’s do I like to read in the winter? Oh gosh. It doesn’t matter, as long as it holds my attention and makes me feel. That’s what counts in a good book, right?

JUST FINISHED

I had been putting off reading this one for a bit and I found it to be the perfect hot chocolate and blanket novel. Charming characters and a fun romantic plot.

JUST STARTED

I have really enjoyed this series. All of the stories are centered around a Renaissance Faire, which I find to be an absolute delight. I’ve liked some of the novels better than others and I’m curious to see which side of the romance wheel this one will fall on.

I hope everyone has a fantastic week. Happy Monday and happy reading!
