Friday at the #RT16 Convention in Las Vegas

It’s been a whirlwind few days at the RT Convention!  We are trying to keep up our energy and pace, but I’ll admit we slowed down a tad on Friday.  We did a couple of games, interacting with some authors for Wheel of Romance for a chance to win books and swag.

We also played Entangled Candy and Spoons.  That was a fast paced, fun card game that got very competitive!  Luckily we all had short nails because we were wrestling our table mates for those spoons very aggressively!   The winner received a tall stack of about twelve Entangled books.  Neither my sister or I won but the winner very kindly gave us each a book.  Everyone is so friendly!!

My favorite author/reader event of the day was Sweet, Sassy, Spicey Author/Reader Meet & Greet.  It was a kind of speed dating with authors.  Our table got to chat with Asa Marie Bradley who’s new book, Viking Warrior Rising just came out.  She grew up in Sweden, and now lives in the US.  She explained to us how in Sweden they grow up learning Norse mythology and that was her inspiration for her characters.  She was amazingly real and very honest with her answers.

We also had Christine Feehan join our table and sign a copy of her book, Water Bound, that we received in our swag bag.  She told us a very funny story about how she was first signed to a publisher.  She said when she got the call, she hung up on the guy because she really liked her life as it was and didn’t want it to change.  I guess she got over that pretty quick!

Christine Feehan, talking….

We also had Rachel Hauck join our table.  She writes inspirational love stories, and she signed and gave us a copy of her book The Wedding Dress.  I have read and loved this book! The thing I like about Rachel Hauck’s books, beyond being very well written, is the fact that they are not in your face Christian.  The characters just have faith, and it’s a part of their lives.  When I said that to her, she said that that was her intent.  She didn’t want to convert anyone, she just wanted to write stories that were natural in their faith.  She was lovely.  I was so wrapped up in the conversation that I forgot to take a picture, sorry!

The last event we attended was the Bling it on: The Avon Reader Party.   Ok, picture this.. A huge ballroom, with tables set up around the walls with 56 Avon authors signing free books.  There were a limited amount of physical hard copies available, but I picked up a hard copy of CJ Redwine’s The Shadow Queen, A Jill Shalvis paperback, a Susan Elizabeth Phillips paperback, a hard copy of Susane Colanti’s City Love, and then an Ebook from almost every other author in that room!  This was amazing!

The beautiful Victoria Aveyard.

My final tally for the day was 19 books and 37 ebooks.  Crazy!  I think my total tally so far is 108 books.  We are having a blast playing, meeting and greeting authors, readers writers and bloggers.  Today is the big book fair.  I’ll post an update tomorrow!  Friday’s swag take below….
