We were introduced to Rory and Max in The Trouble with Mistletoe, the second novel in the Heartbreaker Bay series.  Rory works for Willa in her pet store, and Max has a dog who he brings in for grooming a lot more than a dog probably needs to get groomed, just so he can talk, or stare broodingly at Rory. In this short novella, we learn that Max and Rory have a past when he offers to drive her home for Christmas. This Chick Read: The Trouble With Mistletoe (A Heartbreaker Bay Novel) by Jill Shalvis

I am loving this Heartbreaker Bay series! It’s set in San Francisco where we get to enjoy  learning more about a fun group of friends who work and live in the same neighborhood.  This time the story revolves around Willa, the owner of a pet store / pet boutique / pet wedding planner. Yep, it’s a pet a la mode store. Willa, who we met in Sweet Little Lies, has had a crush on Keane since high school.  Unfortunately, he doesn’t remember her at all, which seriously pisses her off. This Chick Read: Sweet Little Lies: A Heartbreaker Bay novel by Jill Shalvis


Pru is shouldering guilt for the consequences of her parents actions.  She has spent years making sure the families touched by those actions do well, move on, get settled, etc.   The O’Reilly brothers are the last and she’s determined to see how she can make their lives better.  Finn O’Reilly, co owner of the pub O’Reilly’s with his brother, is immediately drawn to Pru, and an innocent flirtation soon turns into something a lot deeper. This Chick Read: Nobody But You by Jill Shalvis

This is the third book in the Cedar Ridge series and so far it is my favorite.  Jacob Kincaid is Hud’s twin, from the second book in the series My Kind of Wonderful.  Jacob left home at eighteen after having an argument with his brother, entered the Army Special Forces, and didn’t speak to his brother again.  He returns from a mission, having lost his best friend and brother in arms, and wants to go home to Cedar Ridge and reconnect with his family, and reunite with his brother Hud.   Continue reading “This Chick Read: Nobody But You by Jill Shalvis” →

This Chick Read: Come on Closer by Kendra Leigh Castle
