It’s Monday, what are you reading? (10/26/2020)

The leaves are changing, the weather is so nice, and I didn’t read that much this last week. I did finish one audiobook and one novel. That’s a little slow for me! The romance novel I did finish was excellent and I recommend it to everyone who likes sports romances and current events. My review went out Sunday if you’d like to read about my thoughts.

JUST FINISHED

When your star quarterback decides to take a stance on racism and poor treatment of NFL players by kneeling for his first game with the team, Strategic Communications Manager, Elliott Reed, is thrown into the deep end on her first day of work. I liked this one a lot.

JUST STARTED

The premise to this series is that a men’s book club read romance novels to understand women and help them in their relationships. Totally cute premise and the first novel in the series was pretty good. I’ll admit that I’ve been a little disappointed but am hoping this will be the book that will knock it out of the park!

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (10/19/2020)

I love fall! The weather has finally gotten a little bit cooler and you can feel that winter is not too far off. It was a weekend that felt somewhat normal running errands, shopping at the store, and hunkering down to read. I finished a book that I’d been reading all week and have started the next on my list. I’m still not reading anything too serious because my mind just isn’t into the struggle of focusing and retaining something more strenuous. Is anyone else still having this problem? It’s frustrating! Anyhow, here’s the lowdown.

A very cute romance set around the food truck scene. I liked the characters a lot and the food sounded delish!

I’ve loved the previous novels in this series and am excited to have gotten an ARC for this one! It comes out this week so I need to get a move on!

I re-read this novel by Kristen Ashley. It had been a few years since I’d read it and I wondered if my feelings for it would have changed at all with a second read. Nope! I may write a review for this one, so hang tight!

I’ve had this one on my wishlist at the library for awhile and thought this weekend my be a good time for a light hearted romance! So far, I like it! It’s very light and sweet. The perfect start to my week!

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (9/21/2020)

I did get a good bit of reading in this last week despite a crazy work week and some more birthday shenanigans at home. In my family all of my siblings, my husband and my mother’s birthdays are within six weeks of each other so we seem to have a party almost every weekend. (Yes, socially distanced, we all live together!) Let’s catch you up on what I’ve been up to!

I’ve read this series but saw the audiobooks up for sale and picked them up. I’ve been enjoying them all again, wrapping up with the third, Wayfarer’s Keep. This author writes so well and keeps me entirely entertained!

JUST STARTED

I love books about young women finding their power. I’m curious to see how she uses her new found confidence! This one is off to a quick start and I like the author’s voice so far!

I loved the first in this series and couldn’t wait to get started on Well Played. Another romance in a Renaissance Faire setting. Too cute!

I love this rock star romance series by Mary Ann Marlowe! I’m late getting to this one as the book came out last week, but am eagerly anticipating a fun story with characters that will surprise me!

Here in the US, today we celebrate Labor Day. A national holiday where we celebrate the contributions and achievements of all American workers. If you live in the US, enjoy your day off, spend it with family, and if you have a spare moment, enjoy that book you’re reading!

When I’m feeling stressed and just want to relax with a good book I seem to be turning to historical romances as my way to escape. Daring and the Duke, the third novel in the Bareknuckle Bastards series was entertaining and more importantly because of my busy schedule, didn’t take a lot of time to read. 🙂

JUST STARTEDO

I actually haven’t even started this one yet, but I’m so excited to read it! I loved the first novel, Well Met, and have been eagerly anticipating this release. What’s not to like about a romance set during a Renaissance fair?

I will definitely be diving into the above book because I have LOTS of free time today! yay! What will you be reading today?

Another weekend is behind me, but also a couple of good books! Recently I’ve been revisiting a few old series by listening to their audiobooks. Isn’t it nice when a narrated book is just as good as the voice inside your own head?

The Hollows is one of my all time favorite paranormal series. After reading the surprise addition to this series earlier this year I decided to start it all over again by listening to the audiobook. Boy, was this one well done, and the book is still superb!

I’ve had this book for a couple months and have finally gotten the chance to pick it up and start it. I really just started this book, but expect it to be just as good as all of the previous novels. I can’t wait to dig in!

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (7/20/2020)

It was a really hot weekend in Nashville which means I stayed inside and read a book. (OK, I also got hooked on a reality show on the History channel called Top Shot, but that’s another story.) I trolled through the hundreds of books I had on my Kindle because I am ahead on my Arc’s and had time to read something for pleasure. That is always a great feeling!

I bought this book back in 2018, which is probably the last time I’d read a Suzanne Wright novel. I had forgotten that her books centered on the physical relationship, then gave you a side of story. If you like sexy paranormal then one of her books has probably crossed your path. There are six books in this series, so if you like demons and don’t mind a LOT of sex scenes this book may be the right one for you.

JUST STARTED

It’s back to the ARC schedule for me, and this is one I’ve been totally excited about reading. Spells for the Dead is the next installment of Faith Hunters Soulwood series. One I’m a HUGE fan of! Excuse me while I go and read for a bit.

It’s Monday, what are you reading? (5/4/2020)

I had just finished a book when a big storm came through knocking out our power. Needless to say, that cut down on my reading as it was just getting dark. We had enough juice in a laptop to get on Netflix and start streaming The Crown. Very Good! It was kind of a nice way to end the weekend, truthfully. We put the devices down and just enjoyed each others company. Despite that, I did read a wonderful book this weekend and have plans to start a next novel.

This book took me totally by surprise! The set up was totally unique, the characters completely charming, and the emotions? Yeah, they were all there. Loved it.

I haven’t started it yet, and may change my mind, but My library loan is just about to run out. It’s going to come down to whether I think I can finish it in time!
