This Chicks Sunday Commentary: It’s Not Just a Change in the Weather… #sundayblogshare

It’s 67 degrees in Nashville, TN. The crocus and daffodils are blooming, people are outside excercising and walking their dogs. My husband and I spent a couple of hours in the convertible driving around the city, seeing the sites and watching the people mill around downtown having lunch outside and listening to live music. A gorgeous day! My doodlebuddy Nash, loves his rides in the convertible too!

My Goldendoodle Nash and my hubby!

Today was a wonderful break, but now I have to refocus and make some strides towards hitting my goals. I have compartmentalized those goals, as I compartmentalize every aspect of my life, Lol.  I do have my work goals, but I won’t talk to you about those here. Boring!!

So, here are my blogging goals!

1) My blogs post to all my social media platforms, so the first goal is to be more social!  I know I’ve been remiss in reaching out and getting to know my fellow bloggers.  I promise that you will hear from me more on your own blogs!  I read and like, but need to start conversations more.  Right? RIGHT??  Well, it does go both ways.  Lol.

2) Is it better to post to your blog consistently? I have noticed that if I post every other day my likes grow. How many times a week do you post?  My goal is 4x a week, with three of those being book reviews. Which brings up another question- am I interesting enough to produce blog posts that aren’t book reviews?  I hope so!!  Although I am doubting that this post is very interesting….

3) My biggest goal is to reach 500 blog followers by the end of this year! Technically, adding in all my social media pages where this blog is posted and the followers on those pages, I have over 3000 followers, but I want YOU, my fellow bloggers to like me, really like me!  Ok, that’s a little extreme, but at least follow me, really follow me! Dramatic sigh, sniff, sniff. Lol.

What are your biggest goals to start off the new season? I’d love to hear about them if you’d like to share.

That’s it for this Sunday!

xoxo, Deb

  1. We have some similar goals. I definitely want to grow my following and become more active with conversation and consistent posts. It’s just so hard when I’m so busy 😖 lol. I also want to focus and continue to write my 2nd novel.

    1. Ok, it sounds like we are he same person! I too need to get started on my second novel. But I also want to keep my blog going and want to feel like it’s not wasted time and that I’m actually building relationships. With my full time job, it’s hard to get everything done. How are you making it work? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

      1. It’s definitely a challenge! The best advice I can give is to dedicate a time of the day to write, even if it’s just for 30 minutes. A couple of paragraphs or pages a day is better than nothing. It’s easier said than done because I find myself slipping on that often I just have to really buckle down. Once you get into the swing of things it should get better though! What is your first novel? I’d like to check it out.

      2. I don’t have it published yet, but have posted a few chapters on my blog and on Wattpad. It’s called Midnight Metamorphosis. It’s a YA Fantasy novel about a girl named Avery who discovers after the death of her mother that she is not your average girl. She is the child of an illicit union between and elemental and seer, and has been prophesied to either save or doom her race. If you find the time to read a few chapters, I’d love to hear what you think! What is the name of yours? Did you self publish or go with a publisher?

      3. It sounds amazing! I’ve always admired fantasy writers. Such imagination! I’ll definitely read what you have. Mine is “Bleeding Heart.” It’s a suspense about a girl that was orphaned at a young age and ended up being a prisoner to an older man. Once he goes off the rails again she has to figure out how to escape. I self published & its available on Amazon as a paperback & ebook. But for my next one I for sure want to try the traditional route & get a publisher.

  2. I want to move to Nashville! We are still wearing scarves and our winter coats here :-(. Of course you’re interesting enough to post other things than book reviews. In fact you’ll see that tags and so on get you more likes than book reviews. I post 3 times a week and that’s enough for me but you’ve got to see what best works for you.

    1. I keep waiting for that second round of storms to hit, but the brief warm up is nice! Where do you live? As far as tags go, there are some tags that look like fun, and I agree that showing my interests and making my blog more personal will make it more interesting. My first love is books though. I love to talk about them, so that side of my blog is for selfish reasons. Lol. One of my favorite things is to read another reviewers opinion on a book I’ve read also. We can see things so differently! I have started to branch out a couple times a week and hope those posts get some traction too. Let me know what you think about them. Happy Sunday!

  3. Good luck with those goals!! 🙂
I notice that posting three to four times a week is enough for me, both for my own head and to avoid pressure, and for the blog’s numbers. I stopped checking them a lot, I just take a peak at numbers once in a while and it works well that way 🙂 I like to have at least one review per week, my This Week in Books on Wednesdays, and my Suntag, the rest depends and it’s okay if I post less. I think what helped me get more interactions with people were social media and the time spent visiting blogs:) I used to post less to have more time to blog-hop. Now I just post when I feel like it 🙂
My blogging goals for the year were to go premium (done!), change the design (in progress) and take more risks and participate in more activities (in progress too!) 🙂

  4. I’ve only recently discovered your blog, but you and your blog are both so lovely I’m sorry I didn’t find it before aha. ❤ My posting schedule has been all over the place since I started blogging, first off with trying to post daily, to being overwhelmed and posting every 2-3 days, to just posting whenever I have the time or a blog post ready. I really do want a more consistent schedule, or that I could post less sporadically but so many things get in the way, it can get hard. Just do what feels right! And don’t worry! I’m sure you’ll do fine with non-book review posts. ❤ Good luck with all your goals!

    1. Thanks so much! I love the reading so the review posts come to me pretty easily. I thought I’d be able to come up with to
It’s a bit easier, but I’m sure as I open up, they will flow. Also, having these discussions with fellow bloggers really gets the creative juices flowing! I enjoy your blog and thanks for reaching out! If you have any topic ideas, please share!
