This Chick is Exploring My Bookshelves

Exploring My Bookshelves is a weekly meme created by Victoria at Addlepates and Book Nerds and co-hosted with Shannon at For the Love of Words. Visit either blog for the list of  topics.  I found out about this through Zezee with Books whose blog I really enjoy.

How this meme works:

Take a “shelfie” (a picture of your bookshelf). Preferably literal, but e-shelves work too. Write something on the day’s prompt.

Give the blurb and the cover of the book (and what you thought of it if you’ve read it).

This week’s topic : A Historical novel (in honor of Presidents Day)

I chose Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander.  I first read this book when it was originally published in June of 1991.  It quickly became my favorite historical novel and Jamie and Claire my top romantic couple of all times.  Before e-books, my family would buy this series in hard copy and we’d mail that one book around the family.  Sister, mothers, aunts, cousins, we’ve all read Claire and Jamie’s love story through time.  My husband, brother, uncles, and any man who has been brought into my family, has also read and loved these books.  At least they tell us they love them, or that relationship could become fatal!  Through the years, this book has had many faces, some of which I’m sharing with you below, starting with the original cover, which is my favorite.  Though I’ll admit to admiring Sam Heughan from the Starz series, a lot, I didn’t know the picture would be that large!  When it comes to looking at Sam, large isn’t a bad thing!

What historical novel have you recently read and enjoyed?

I have taken a picture of my kindle bookshelf as well as a bookshelf in my room, as I buy both hard copies and e-books.

What does yours look like?

  1. Thanks so much for participating! Don’t forget to go and add your link over on my post 🙂
This book is such a good one; Jamie is one of my all time favourite characters. I love the story behind your reason too; I’ve only just read it recently, and haven’t had time to read the entire series yet
